Living in gold-filled
The daily routine
Our gold-filled jewellery is low-maintenance, tarnish-resistant, and shower-safe. While you can wear pieces daily, avoiding direct contact with soaps is the best way to preserve their finish. If your jewellery catches some lather, simply rinse with plain tap water and gently pat completely dry.
Gentle boundaries
While gold-filled pieces contain a remarkably thick layer of solid gold, they aren't invincible. To ensure the longevity of your gold layer, remove your pieces before swimming in chlorinated pools, soaking in hot tubs, or applying perfumes directly onto the metal.
The occasional refresh
To restore your jewellery's original shine, occasionally run your pieces under warm tap water. Gently pat dry with a soft cloth to remove built-up oils or lotions. For an effortless refresh between wears, gently buff pieces with our signature Gold-Filled Polishing Cloth.
Delicate details: Pearls
The pearl philosophy
Pearls are delicate, organic gems that require a gentler touch. The rule of thumb for pearls is always: "last thing you put on, first thing you take off."
Keep them dry
Unlike your gold-filled pieces, pearls are not water-friendly. Strictly avoid wearing your pearls in the shower, pool, or ocean. Keep them away from perfumes, cosmetics, and harsh chemicals, which instantly dull their natural luster.
After-care & safe keeping
After wearing, gently wipe your pearls with a soft, slightly damp cloth to remove natural body oils. Store your pearls flat and separate from other jewellery to prevent harder metals from scratching their delicate surface.
Off-duty care & repairs
Safe keeping
When your pieces are off-duty, avoid humid bathroom counters. To prevent premature wear and oxidisation, store your jewelry in a cool, dry place. We highly recommend keeping them tucked inside your DAVID X JONATHAN microfibre pouch.
